A visit to Hue would not be complete without a boat excursion on the gentle Perfume River, or else you cannot feel the romance of Hue”.The Perfume River is a river that crosses the capital city of Hue. Perfume or HuongRiver is around 80 kilometers long, and owes its name to the fact that it flows through many forests of aromatic plants before reaching Hue, bringing with it a pure and fresh aroma.

Tour Itinerary: - In the morning, we take a cruise on the PerfumeRiver to visit a SampanVillage along the riverside, Phu Mong Traditonal garden house, Thien Mu Pagoda, Hon ChenTemple and Minh Mang Tomb. Phu Mong garden houses place in the area of Kim Long where Nguyen Lords built their palaces. This is the place where a group of Spanish Catholic nuns was received by Lord-Nguyen Phuc Anh in 1644 and before that mandarin and sodiers defeated 3 military ship of Neitherland where they tried to attack the Eo Inlet. This period witness the present of priests Alexandre de Rhodes and Bengine Vachet. They organized many folk festival like human chess, shuttle cock contest singing, wrestling, tugging,...Phu Mong Garden House inherits those beautiful tradition, this area offers poetic garden houses and bring visitors relax and entertainment. It stands as a reminder of time and a charming low music note, a green impression over the background of Hue culture. Thien Mu Pagoda- The Heavenly Lady Pagoda is a highly recommended place. According to legend, the people around this area used to see a vision of an old lady appearing on the hill where the pagoda now sits. Upon seeing people, she always said that someday a great leader would build a pagoda at this site to bring peace to the country. One day, when Lord Nguyen Hoang passed by this area, upon hearing the story, he ordered the construction of the pagoda in 1601. He named it Chua Thien Mu - Heavenly Lady Pagoda.The front of the Pagoda can be accessed from the Perfume river and has the Phuoc Duyen tower which can be seen from many points in Hue. In 1963, in a defying act against the Diem regime, Thich Quang Duc burned himself in downtown Saigon to denounce the Diệm government and its policy towards Buddhists, demanding that it fulfill its promises of religious equality.After approximately ten minutes,Thich Quang Đuc's body toppled forward onto the street and the fire subsided. Suprisingly, all his body was burn exept his heart. His heart is still kept until now in Xa Loi pagoda. Today, the car that took him to Saigon is stored in the rear of Thien Mu Pagoda.
- We will have luch on the boat and take a break. - In the afternoon, we travel by bus to visit Khai Dinh Tomb, Tu Duc Tomb, and IncenseStick & Conical Hat MakingVillages.
Khai Dinh (Built 1920-1931)-an example of Vietnamese "neo-classicism". Under Khai Dinh(1885-1925), Western culture and its influence began to seep into Vietnam. The king himself visited France in 1922. As a result, his tomb has many elements of Western architecture mixed with eastern art. The builder made use of the lighting rod and electricity is used to light the place. Beyond throughout the interior of the tomb, colored glass and ceramic chips were used to form mosaics of oriental design. The ceilings were hand painted much like the ceilings of western churches, but the designs were of dragons and clouds. Tu Duc (Built 1864-1867). His tomb includes 50 monuments surrounded by a 1500m wall. The King died in 1883 after 35 years on the throne. Emperor Tu Duc was an expert in eastern philosophy, history, and literature. He left 4,000 verses and 600 proses. Being a romantic, the king ordered the construction of his tomb to be a fairyland with poetical features, making it a lifetime dream and a world for his eternal life after death. Architectural features of Tu Duc Tomb include poetry elements in free form. It was designed to blend with the natural setting of the landscape.
Not far from the Tu Duc tomb is the conical hat and Insence stick making village. When you come there, you can see how people making the hat and the insence stick. It’s not a simple work, it’s really an art.. The hat can be used as a basin or a bowl to contain water when they are thirsty, as a fan when they are hot, as a basket of a
bunch of vegetables. Romantically, young couples can veil their kisses behind this traditional conical hat during their dates. As for insence stick, many religious ceremonies and spiritual purificatory rites employ incense, a practice that persists to this day. Incense is also used in medicine and for its aesthetic value. In many ceremony, people burn the incense and pray to give some massage to the death people.
